With only a few weeks left of 2021, I’ve been reflecting on the past year that we’ve had for Starburst EMEA – from growing our team in the UK, to setting up central hubs in DACH and France, to finally being able to meet at in-person events again, it’s been quite a ride to say the least! And with big growth goals set for 2022, the party isn’t stopping any time soon. So, as we round off the year and get ready to ring in the holiday season, here are a few of my 2021 highlights and things I’m looking forward to next year for Starburst EMEA.

On your marks, get set, DACH!

It’s been a really exciting time for Starburst to be launching in the DACH region. The pains that customers face in the region – when it comes to the amount of data on-prem, the amount of data that needs to be GDPR-compliant, and the amount of data moving into the cloud – make Starburst a solution of choice. Our solutions focus on providing a single source of secure access for all data, regardless of where it lives.. We’ve already hired a host of excellent Solution Architects, partner leaders and sales managers in the DACH region, with data-driven mindsets, and we’re hoping to continue to build on that momentum in 2022.

Building a partner-first culture

Here at Starburst, we like to think that our customer experience is what sets us apart, and this is underpinned with a culture of transparency, both with our employees and our partners. Our solutions plug into over 40 technologies from the clouds (Google Cloud, AWS, and Azure), on-prem sources like SAP and Teradata, and BI tools like Tableau, Power BI, and Qlik, so having a partner-first culture and building on those relationships was an important goal for 2021.

We’ve already made some great progress with regional partners including Data Reply and D-One who know that the data-driven organisations in DACH would benefit from our combined solutions and expertise. In fact, we have already been able to solve some critical data challenges together. ,

Getting out there at industry events

2021 finally brought back in-person events, and we were present at many of the Big Data events in Europe this year, including Big Data LDN and Big Data & AI Paris, where our Data Mesh talk was a full and standing event! In addition to creating a stir at the big events, we took the opportunity to become more present at local events too – the Chief Wine Officer virtual events in the UK proved to be a huge hit (and yes, the wine tasting was a nice touch)!

As we enter 2022, we want to continue our presence at events, both in-person and virtually, as well as make the effort to go out into the field more and meet as many of our customers as possible. Don’t forget to sign up to our Datanova 2022 event, it’s not one to be missed!

Meet our EMEA Starburst Voyagers!

Throughout the whole month of December, we’ve been spotlighting our, what we like to call, Starburst Voyagers, the customers that have achieved out-of-this-world technical and business outcomes in their data strategies by unlocking the value of distributed data. Hear stories from the likes of Richard Jarvis, CTO at healthcare company, EMIS, Alexander Seeholzer, Director of Data Services at SOPHiA GENETICS and Ritesh Ranjan, Lead Data Architect at Sky, about how they’ve transformed their approach to data using Starburst and why data and analytics remains a core part of their business.

2021 has been the year of immense, fast growth for Starburst in EMEA , and as we look towards the future. We can’t wait to build on that momentum with our data-driven vision to serve more countries and companies. Bring it on, 2022!
