Summertime in Europe can often seem a quieter time for business. Summer shutdowns will soon be taking place in certain countries and the school holidays are fast approaching, so it’s understandable that some Europeans prepare to slow down for the summer months.
For us at Starburst and in the data and analytics world, however, it’s all go, go, go, with a whole host of events in the calendar coming thick and fast, including this week’s long-anticipated AWS Summit EMEA. Our strong EMEA growth and expansion is also continuing with the launch of Starburst’s French team, led by Martial Coiffe and Victor Coustenoble. Let’s dive into these by taking a closer look at recent EMEA highlights!
Bringing together the cloud community at the AWS Summit
The AWS Summit EMEA takes place this week and it’s an event we’re especially excited for. Split across two days online – a builder day on 9th June and innovation day on 10th June – the summit is one of the must-attend events in the calendar for data pros and leaders across the cloud community.
If you’re a technical leader, data scientist, developer, system administrator, solutions architect, or engineer, then AWS Summit will no doubt have something for you. With talks available in eight different languages, it will be more accessible to attendees from across Europe. The summit will kick off with a keynote from Peter DeSantis, Senior Vice President, AWS Global Infrastructure and Customer Support, and special guest Dorothy Li, Vice President, AWS BI and Analytics, discussing how moving to the cloud gives you the flexibility you need to reinvent your business, before going into several sessions split by role.
Starburst customer Richard Jarvis, Chief Analytics Officer at EMIS and I will also be taking the (virtual) stage on day two of the summit in the AWS Innovation Day at 11:55 BST/12:55 CEST. As one of the largest suppliers of electronic health record software in the UK, EMIS faced a huge challenge during the pandemic and needed to find a way to make healthcare data and analytics available to providers and research organisations in order to keep up with the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. In the session, Simon Frost, Head of Industry Marketing EMEA at AWS, Richard Jarvis, and I will explain how EMIS achieved this and how Starburst Enterprise supported by helping EMIS to transform its EMIS-X Analytics platform. Bonjour! A warm welcome to our new faces in France
Following our announcement about our expansion into Europe earlier this year, the momentum is continuing and we’re so pleased to be welcoming Martial Coiffe, Regional Sales Lead, and Victor Coustenoble, Lead Solution Architect, to the Starburst team. They become the latest new joiners in EMEA in a short time period that has seen us increase our feet on the ground in the region by more than tenfold. It’s great to see such interest and demand for Starburst being shown by enterprises in EMEA so quickly – it’s fuelling rapid expansion and we’re responding swiftly by hiring outstanding, proven experts who see the trajectory we’re on and want to be a part of it.
Both Martiel and Victor have a demonstrated history of working in the software industry, previously holding positions at big data and analytics firms, including DataStax, Trifacta and ThoughtSpot. They will be leading the Starburst French operations and helping us expand Starburst’s footprint in France and southern Europe to further continue Starburst’s excellent recent growth in EMEA.
There’s lots more to come soon too. While the summer slowdown takes its hold on parts of EMEA, we’ll be continuing our efforts to drive better business decision making by enabling faster access to data. This is just the start of our EMEA journey and we’re looking forward to having you with us along the way, starting hopefully with attendance at the AWS Summit – see you there!
