Launching a new data quality dashboard in Starburst Galaxy

Real-time monitoring of data quality rules and trends, with drill-down capabilities for simplified issue troubleshooting

Published: June 18, 2024

Just recently, we launched the core functionality that enables you to write custom quality checks using SQL and schedule them periodically to check the state of your data.

As you scale and increase the number of checks, not only do you need to know how your data quality is performing, you need a way to demonstrate the success of data quality initiatives, and a way to quickly identify and resolve hotspots.

To support you in your effort to scale out data quality initiatives, we’re introducing a dashboard view into your data quality rules across your data hierarchy.

This will provide you with a view of the state of data quality rules from data entities you have access to, trending of results over the last 30 days, and way to drill through to specific data sets and rules to troubleshoot issues.

The initial launch will provide general visibility into pass / fail / unprocessed states of the data quality checks, with a future update providing the ability for you to classify the type of quality check that is being authored and visualizations of the aggregations between quality check classifications as well as the severity or importance of the check to the business. For more details, check out our documentation.

Get Started

In order to use the dashboard feature, you will at a minimum need to author and run a quality check manually or via scheduling – you can read up on this here.  Once a check is executed, the dashboard will be available automatically in the Galaxy catalog explorer with no further configuration needed on your part.

This feature is in public preview and available for you to explore as soon as you sign up and create and run your first data quality check in your free account!
