Despite best efforts at centralization, modern data lives in a lot of places – from cloud databases to modern data lakes to legacy data warehouses. Accessing, governing, and querying all of that data is difficult and means managing lots of disparate tools. Starburst Galaxy provides a single unified interface for these data teams from which they can access and govern the data in and around their data lake.
The crucial next step in empowering data teams is making that data available to the entire organization, anywhere they want to get work done.
Zing Data empowers teams, large or lean, to ask questions using natural language, create visualizations in a few clicks, set up real time alerts, and collaborate. Driven by powerful large language models and an intuitive visual interface, Zing makes data useful to anybody within a company – whether they are in front of a computer or out in the field.
Accessing any data, anywhere
While Starburst Galaxy’s cross-cloud querying functionality means you can access all your data, Zing Data’s mobile app lets you query and visualize that data on the go.
Example Starburst Galaxy and Zing Data architecture
Running Starburst Galaxy with Zing Data enables querying data in three ways:
- Visually, with an drag-and-drop query builder, complete with a live preview
- Using SQL, with helpful autocomplete prompts
- Using natural language (powered by OpenAI and Google’s PALM2)
Activating OpenAI queries on Starburst Galaxy
With Zing’s native iOS and Android apps you never need to wait for somebody to create a dashboard or write SQL – simply ask a question using natural language.
It’s easy to use too, simply:
- Create a Zing Data account
- Add Starburst Galaxy as your data source from iOS, Android or web versions of Zing
- Go to ‘sources’ and type your natural language question in the search bar. You’ll see a big button “Text-to-question”. Tap it.
- Your question will run using OpenAI’s GPT-3 Codex text to SQL engine against your data source.
