Trino query plan analysis session 3: Detailed plan analysis
Join Developer Advocate Lester Martin for this 3-part webinar series designed to teach you the fundamentals of how Trino massively parallelizes your queries to produce the best possible performance. By the end of the series you will not only be able to conceptually visualize how a query is decomposed into its granular elements, but be able to validate the optimizations you are expecting are occurring and perform corrective actions if needed to improve performance.
Starburst Galaxy Demo - April 2025
Join one of our free instructor led monthly demos for a technical deep dive into Starburst Galaxy, a fully-managed data lake analytics platform designed for handling petabyte-scale data sets in and around your cloud data lake. Starburst experts will demo how you can easily discover, govern, analyze, and share data across clouds from a single platform in 20 minutes.
Iceberg Metadata Deep-Dive
The Apache Iceberg table format is an advancement beyond the original Apache Hive table format. One of the key differences is how and where metadata is stored. Hive stores its metadata in a metastore that often stores this information in a database. Iceberg takes the approach of storing metadata alongside the actual data – on the data lake itself. This approach supports ACID-compliant transactions and creates a new version of the table each time data or structural changes occur. It allows for time-travel querying and rollbacks.
In our webinar, you will see how and where metadata is stored from the original table creation through multiple changes to the table’s contents. The presenter will utilize Starburst Galaxy for the demonstrations and you will gain access to instructions to perform the same operations yourself.
Modernizing data analytics at Tatra Banka with Starburst
Join Patrik Plecho, Enterprise Architect at Tatra Banka (a Slovakia-based commercial bank), as he shares how the bank successfully transitioned to Starburst + Iceberg on AWS.
In this session, you’ll get a firsthand look at Tatra Banka’s Starburst deployment. Whether you’re modernizing your Hadoop ecosystem or exploring data lakehouse strategies, this webinar is packed with valuable lessons from a leading financial institution’s real-world transformation.
Starburst 101 Workshop
Are you intrigued by the concept of a data lakehouse but are looking for some hands on experience? Are you looking to turn your raw data in your data lake into secured, curated datasets – also known as data products – ready to deliver insights downstream?
On May 7, join us for our hands-on Starburst 101 workshop, where Starburst’s instructors will guide you through the fundamentals of how Starburst works and how it can help you and your team achieve your goals. This 90-minute session will first cover an introduction to Starburst and Trino, then transition to a live lab where you will build a federated data pipeline in your data lakehouse that produces secure data products. In this hands-on & instructor-led lab, you’ll use Starburst Galaxy, the easiest and fastest way to run Trino, in combination with Apache Iceberg, to build a data lakehouse architecture similar to architectures utilized by companies like Netflix, Pinterest, Prezi and more.
