Is starburst connector provided in Tableau cloud responsible to send data to tableau? Or, is the connector’s only purpose to link the coordinator with Tableau cloud and then the coordinator directly sends data to tableau?

We previously were using the jdbc connector to connect to Trino, and we now switched to Starburst connector. In both cases we are seeing the time to send extract data to tableau is taking 40 mins. So I wanted to get clarity if data is sent via the connector or not ? Our Tableau extract are of size 2.5 gb and its taking 40 mins just to send data to tableau.

hi! At 1:42 of this video, it goes over a high level architecture. Essentially Tableau sends the query to the coordinator, the query is processed in parallel, then results are read back to the analyst to work with in tableau.

The data is sent via Starburst connector. Extracts in Tableau are generally slow, 2.5 gb of data is quite a lot. I recommend you remove some data. If the time is the same (40 minutes) for both options, that means it is Tableau extract bottleneck.
